We are delighted to share some very special news: Koyal has been selected among the establishments included in the 2026 edition of the MICHELIN Guide. It is a milestone we could scarcely have imagined when we opened our doors on Brighton Road, and one that belongs to our whole team - and to every guest who has shared a table with us.
What it means
The MICHELIN Guide has celebrated the culinary arts for over a century, and its Inspectors dine anonymously to assess restaurants on the quality and character of their cooking. Being selected for the Guide places Koyal among a considered list of restaurants the Inspectors believe are worth seeking out. Our restaurant now has its own page on the MICHELIN Guide platforms, where you can read what impressed the Inspectors about our kitchen.
Recognition for regional Indian cooking
The nod reflects the vision of Chef Nand Kishor Semwal, whose career took in Michelin-starred kitchens at Trishna and Gymkhana before he brought his craft to Surbiton. At Koyal that means Himalayan ingredients, a binchotan charcoal tandoor, and dishes drawn from right across the subcontinent - the same cooking that earned us 2 AA Rosettes and, this year, Community Dining Experience of the Year.
Thank you
Recognition like this is built on the everyday - every booking, every returning table, every kind word. You can see the full picture on our awards page and read more of the coverage on our press page. And there has never been a better time to join us: book a table at 59-63 Brighton Road, Surbiton, and taste the cooking behind the Guide.
